Some other studies also show that it may be able to combat the herpes family of viruses, aka pseudorabies. That said, no human research has been conducted. 

Antibacterial Properties

Limited human studies were conducted, one of which included several children. A single study that included 180 children found that the herb was beneficial at treating ear infections which are also caused by bacteria. 

Then there was another 3-day study that used ear drops with mullein and a few other herbal extracts three times a day. The study concluded that ear pain was reduced by 93%. However, the jury is out as to if it was the mullein extract that did its thing or any other herb in the drops. That’s why doctors cite a need for additional human research.
